Speaker + Advocate + Mom
Dr. Ali is nationally recognized as a passionate advocate for girls and women. A sought-after speaker, her unique style combines her academic scholarship in gender and culture studies with her years of service in nonprofit organizations and private companies. She delivers presentations and programming that address the complex and ever-changing realities of being female in our global society.
After launching her career as a fundraiser for the Jewish Women’s Archive, Dr. Ali Hill then spent 5 years as the manager and national spokesperson for the anti-violence initiative at Girl Scouts of the USA, all before founding a consulting company called Critical Issues for Girls (which later became Critical Issues for Youth).
Dr. Ali Explains Her Work This Way...
“I help women learn to walk through the world like executives — with confidence, without being cocky. I support their learning how to ask for what they need without apologizing, and leading in ways that clients and internal team members feel safe, respected and valued. Together, we work to build a habit of their stepping into their power without asking for permission or approval.”
Academic Rigor + Perpetual Curiosity
Dr. Ali graduated from Tufts University with a BA (magna cum laude) in Spanish and Women’s Studies. She holds a master's degree in Public Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, with a concentration in Non-Profit Business Management.
She earned a PhD in Sociology from The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). Her doctoral research focused on young women ages 14-17 and their experiences with self-presentation, impression management, and aggression on Facebook. Dr. Ali and her husband, Jason Hill, live with their two children, dog, and turtle in Denver, Colorado.
